OK. So there I was putting out some steaks I just cut when this woman approaches me. She says to me, "What on sale this week?" So, I show her the different meat products that are on sale. I am very proud of the product I put out. Ribeyes were on sale for $4.99 a pound. That is $5 off the regular price. She looks me square in the eye and says, "So what is wrong with them?"
I was thrown off a little because I never had heard someone say that before. I simply told her, "Nothing is wrong with them."
"Well, they are on sale mighty cheap. I simply figured they were old and you are trying to get rid of them," She said back.
I told her it is a store wide ad. Not every store would have bad meat and besides it is against the law to sell tainted or old meat.
She then asks me, "Why are they so cheap?"
I tell her an ad is to entice a customer to come into a store and buy a product. I explained that if you by a steak for this price, you will want a vegitable and maybe some steak sauce. That is the idea behind and ad.
She almost got red in the face and then spewed this line, " So this is a type of deception!"
I was beside myself at this point. I was thinking of how I would like to slap her a couple of times to wake her up from whatever she was on.
Calmly I replied back, "Ma'am! There is no deception. Deception means we are trying to trick you. If you came in and the steak in the ad was not on sale that would be deception. The steak is on sale. We simply hope you will buy sides to go with your steak."
She looks at me like a cow does an on coming train and says, "Whatever!," and walks away.
Some people need to be locked up in an institution and I figure she is one of them.
Have a good day all!
