Baseball fans know the story.
The 2020 Atlanta Braves played the Dodgers in the 2020 NL Championship Series.
The Braves jumped out to a Three Game to One lead in the series.
Before the Dodgers came storming back to win the series in Game Seven last night.
As a veteran Braves fan of 37 years, back since the early years when they were owned by Ted Turner, and broadcast on TBS every night.
This one might hurt the most of all their postseason losses.
There was one shining moment in the 14 year run of the Braves era of division titles between 1991 and 2005.
October 28 , 1995, when the Atlanta Braves won their first, and only to date, World Championship.
Now there are the new Braves. This year was their third straight division title in this era.
The first two rounds, seemed almost easy, sweeps of the Reds, and the Marlins.
Before running into the mighty Dodgers.
The Braves , with much of their starting rotation injured, or in the minor leagues after performing poorly , jumped out to a three game to one lead, and were one win away from the World Series.
Unfortunately, they could not get that win.
Last night, they led, and then were tied into the 7th inning.
When a Cody Bellinger homer broke the Braves dreams for good.
Atlanta Journal Constitution columnist, Mark Bradley, who I sometimes find, "Negative" in his assessment.
Said in his column after the Braves lost the series.
"Yes, the score says the Braves lost".
"However, they stood up to the mighty Dodgers, and made Braves fans proud. "
The Braves have the foundation for a good run of success.
Half their starting rotation, including supposed ace Mike Soroka, missed large chunks of the season with injury.
The Braves brought up re enforcements from the minor ;leagues, especially pitcher Ian Anderson, who pitched brilliantly in the postseason.
They still got to the seventh game of the NLCS against a probably superior Dodgers team.
Before the Braves finally succumbed to the Dodgers awesome power in the 7th inning
I'm of course frustrated and sad that the Braves did not get to the World Series for the first time since 1999.
The three games to one lead that the Braves blew in this series, hurts.
Yet, looking at the other side, the Braves did have a very successful season.
There is every reason to believe from their young pitching talent, and hitting superstars like Freddie Freeman, and Ronald Acuna, that this team will be successful for many years to come
