I'm home. The procedure on my mother went as planned, thank God, but, it was far more dangerous than either of us knew. Sometimes, a little knowledge is best.
We got to the hospital, and, after they prepared my mom for the procedure, the Dr spoke to us. He told us there was a 25% chance she would suffer a collapsed lung, a complication that would require up to a three day stay in the hospital. He also told us that while he personally hasn't experienced it, he had heard of patients who have died from the procedure my mom had today. Needless to say, my heart was in my mouth until I saw my mom. During the procedure, I talked to my aunt on my cell phone. My aunt didn't realize the seriousness of the procedure, and she was hysterical the whole time. Thank God, my mom came through the procedure just fine, and she was able to emerge, have lunch, and leave the hospital after 2 hrs. We had dinner at Texas Road house in Reading. Now, we have to go back up to NJ on Friday for mom to have another procedure, and then we have to discuss treatment plan. Mom told me she is going to stay in her bed tomorrow. I plan to do the same, just rest in my bed. I'm physically and emotionally exhausted, but, thank heaven, all seems fine.
Just wanted to post the update. Thanks to all those who have given me their support,
Mitch
