I've noticed that I'm put off by bad spelling and grammar. I know I'm far from perfect with it comes with correct spelling and proper grammar, but stuff like this "im sry" or "tomorrow is gonna b a long day but im glad to b going back to work!" (examples taken from a friend of mine on FB) annoys the crap out of me.
To me, seeing that, I think, how the heck did you graduate from high school? How can you even type like that? Seriously, how? 'Cause I've tried to deliberately misspell and shorten words like that and it makes my head hurt. Punctuation like apostrophes I can reasonably see how they could be missed when typing on a phone.
Then I see people filling out profiles with that style of shorthand on social networks like Fetlife or dating sites like OkCupid, and it turns me off. I'm less likely to respond to messages if they're written like that or if someone's profile is written like that.
I don't consider myself a spelling and grammar nazi. I certainly don't criticize anyone that does write like that, but I guess it's become a pet peeve of mine.
