i have recently abandoned both windows and mac OS and am using Ubuntu Linux
there are two pretty good graphics programs available - GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulatoin Program) and MyPaint - however, GIMP doesn't support my current wacom tablet properly, and MyPaint doesn't have layer blending (in photoshop i would use 'multiply' as the layer blend method for colouring) although it has some lovely painting effects like pencils and charcoal and what have you and supports the pressure sensitivity of my wacom quite delightfully
this is why my pictures are in black and white at the moment.. it's not that i have gone all arthouse and noir hipster on y'all - if i can figure out how to get my wacom to stop larking about in GIMP the colour will return
