Trash pickup to reduce its service to just once a week as opposed to twice. Come again? Lemme see, I live in Baltimore. Though not in my area, this city has got an oh-so-sweet rat problem. You've also got a bunch of low-income families trying to make ends meet with a billion and a half kids. That's a lot of dirty diapers! Oh, and did I mention it's getting hot and only going to get hotter? This place is going to smell fantastic. Finally, I shudder to think what is going to happen if a holiday should happen to fall on a pickup day. Waiting an extra week would be uber-epic.
OK, so it will apparently save the city a bunch of money. That's all well and good, but I feel this is a case of the negative far outweighing the positive. Of course, this decision does come from our Mayor Sheila Dixon, who has been under investigation for a good while now. It shouldn't be that surprising. Thank you, fat cats. Let the good times roll.
