Most importantly a slave and submissive are both based on the same BDSM lifestyle principle, which is trust. Without trust there is nothing. But there are many differences in both terms of servitude in the BDSM world. The submissive is normally collared or owned, being owned is more like being possessed. Being a collared submissive is a sign of a territorial right of the Master or Mistress; kind of like a hands off sign to others. But sometimes a collar is a symbol of the Master or Mistress themselves. In terms of a submissive, there is kind of a negotiation that takes place between the Dominant and the submissive before an agreement of ownership. The submissive has the ability to state the areas where the Dominant is inflectional and is not. And also the submissive has the ability to determine what the Dominant can or cannot do. The key point of a submissive role is allowing the Dominant to control only certain aspects of they submissive's life. Does this make the submissive any less of a servant? Absolutely Not. Submissives just have more limitations in the lifestyle than a slave. The role of a slave entitled to a whole different level of trust, it's a large responsibility to both the slave and Dominant. The Dominant has complete and full control of the slave, with no room for debate. The slave gibes up control of all aspects of their lives. To a slave, there is nothing else in the world other than the pleasure of the Dominant. A slave is a level of BDSM relationship without limits, without safe words.
