No.. this isn't some melodramatic Mitch entry. It's just,.,. a chain of events with things going on, that hopefully will turn out good.
There was an exam today, but I wasn't ready, nor did Jay, my instructor, think I would be.. So.. I was in communication with him, and found out some shocking information.
There is another exam next Friday, the 11th. Since I'm only three chapters from being done.. I have to be ready for that. I didn't think it would be so soon. Jay made it sound like I had about 2 weeks more. Now comes the tricky part..
There is an all day review course from 9 to 5 next Thursday, the 10th. My dad's birthday is on Wednesday. We were supposed to go out to dinner.. but.. when I called to tell him, he immediately nixed the idea of dinner. I wanted to ask him if I could postpone the dinner until after the exam, so I could study, but felt maybe I could do everything that night. When he heard about when the review course is, and how much material will be covered, he immediately said "Your review course and exam is more important, we can celebrate my birthday over next weekend". Good.
The "Plan" that Jay wanted me to do, was to finish all 20 chapters, take the practice tests, and then the final practice test, and then.. read all 20 chapters again at least one more time, and take all 20 practice tests over again at least once each.
Realistically, that's not going to happen. I swore I was going to pull an all nighter last night. That didn't happen. I read two chapters in the evening, fell away dead between the 6 and 11pm Jim Gardner broadcasts, and did another chapter after the 11pm news.
I had a panic attack when I saw Jay's e-mail about when the test is. I walked out of my apartment, on to Austin St. I had already had Chinese food today. (Planned). So I went down to get a yougurt from Red Mango, and stopped into see Maria, where she promptly told me I look fat.
I'm going to have a brief breakfast with my dad on Sunday, and I'm also going to be a bad boy and go to the casino for a few hours tomorrow.
Barney has been calling me every night, for what reason I don't know.
I don't think my dad will even be upset if I fail the test. The main thing is he knows I've busted my ass. Knowing how I react to things, I'm probably going to be furious, and cry, if I don't pass. I know what Jay said, about people not passing the first time, and I know I can take it again.
