This is my first blog here so bear with me if I don't make a lick of sense.
Lately, I have found myself in a bit of a funk. Over this month I have been stupid swamped by work that my coming here has dropped off considerably and I have succumbed to one-liner posts which I do detest since I like to elaborate or "speak from the heart", so to speak.
Anyways this funk has had me considering my reasons for even coming here anymore and after speaking to a good friend, who gave me amazing advice, I began to realize that I needed to reevaluate the reason why I joined here originally and even more, get out of this funk I'm in. This is where the blog title comes in.
I have always found that music is a reflection of what is in one's soul, or a representation of one's emotions. Songs like "Streets of Philadelphia" and "Waterfalls" are prime examples of music that can influence emotions; in these cases, sadness. Listening to a particular song or list of similar songs may very well demonstrate the current feelings/emotions of the listener. Those songs can also strengthen the listener's feelings and emotions; both positively and negatively. Listening to a dreary song or a song where deep sadness and/or despair is implied can further augment any funk one is in, potentially reaching a point of social regression or worse, depression.
Subsequently, I find that listening to certain songs can increase one's mood in a positive manner and, depending on the song, even break one out of a funk completely. I love music and I have a wide variety of music to represent any possible emotion I have felt over time as well as songs which I use to change my mood when I get into a funk or when I need to bring myself down from the "too good to be true cloud 9" and back to reality.
To me, music is more than just having a favourite genre, band or song: it's the key to unlocking your emotional potential and, when manipulated properly, can greatly affect your state of mind, body and soul in whatever manner desired. I am curious if others share this sentiment and thoughts about music; perhaps even have real life stories where music has helped them out mentally, emotionally, psychologically, etc.
Sorry if this was way too jumbled but I'm late for work so it was a rush job but something I wanted to say. Therefore, adios for now!
