So... yeah,
I disappeared for a while. Mainly lost interest in the project, moved to 3 different continents for a while and now im back to where i started.
where is that you might ask?
Glad you asked! The answer is back to developing a real tickling machine.
10 years ago I started tinkering with an arduino board and a bunch of servos, Managed to get a Proof of concept done. A simple rudimentary Contraption that uses servos in a random manner to elicit tickles with feathers.
Back then, I had no idea what i was doing, Im good at learning stuff, and im a creative problem solver, but i lacked the skills needed to develop the full thing.
Now, Im still the same guy, but in the past 10 years i got really into Python coding and algorithms, and into machine learning, machine vision and AI. plus, in a decade, tons of new tools, technologies, components, and libraries came out, that are super cheap now, or even free. The maker community and the DIY tech community boomed, so as the industries they rely on. something that almost was non existent back then or had an extremely high barrier of entry.
You can npw 3d print stuff using free files, on machines that cost less than 200$! you can create crazy intricate designs on free modeling software, and build them using components that you can buy in bulk for under 20$. That was absolutely not possible back then. but now, Its crazy how close we are to actually building the real machine! It just needs the will and the know-how to do it.
I have the will right now... as for the know how, l'll try to figure it out. but I welcome any and all of your input into making this thing a reality.
For now, here is a preview of the hour i spent tinkering with Arduino yesterday:
