Last night we got 1-2 inches of snow. That was not really a big deal. It was the ice that caused havoc.
I got to work around 5, only to learn we were on a Sunday schedule so I showed up two hours early. 🙁 On top of that I was assigned a route I've never driven, with a detour thrown in just for fun.
The streets were sheets of ice, and most of Austin is very hilly. Cars and buses were sliding off the road, spinning out and sliding backwards down hills. I had a few close calls myself.
By 10 things had gotten dramatically better in many parts of town and since most everything was closed for the day or opening later it became easier for me to get around.
After the 7 pm runs are complete service will end for the day. They should have delayed starting service until around 9 this morning, in my opinion. Almost nothing was open, there were only a few people out and it was a dangerous situation this morning.
