Best posted in the blog.. because it hasn't happened yet.
Assuming my position at Aflac comes through as expected in the short term.. I know exactly what I want to do.. A "plan" for my life.
Of course, I'm going to work in the insurance business that I've worked so hard to achieve the license in, getting clients.. learning the business..
And then.. if all goes well..
I'm going to go to law school at night..
Law school is what I had originally intended to do when I majored in history.
Law school is four years at night. Night is the only way I could do it now, because I have to earn a living in insurance first.
As I may have mentioned before, my course review teacher, Ed, is both a lawyer and a licensed insurance agent. He decided to become a lawyer early on in his insurance career when involved in a lawsuit.
Hopefully, if I'm working in an insurance company, and have a client base in insurance.. such would probably mean that if I got my law degree, passed the Bar exam and got my law license. I could both have insurance clients, and work in the legal department of an insurance company.
Ed is an independent contractor. He doesn't work for Aflac. In fact, he's represented clients on both sides of the issues with insurance companies. That's something I couldn't do if I was a licensed insurance agent with clients. I would have to represent the insurance company in their legal department.
I'd likely have to specialize in insurance law, but.. technically, I could become a medical lawyer as well, because so much of insurance crosses over to medical.
First things first I know. Make sure the position with Aflac happens, learn, get clients, and then, take it from there.
The goal: By the time I'm 50 years old, in six years... I want to have my law degree, law license and insurance license.
My dad works in his 70s, so theres no reason I couldn't have a 30 year career in law and insurance.
It feels so good to have achieved a goal you worked so hard for. It makes you want to plan other hopefully attainable goals.
