did anyone here ever read Calvin and Hobbes? Bill Watterson is a genius, man. Calvin and Hobbes was and is the greatest comic strip of all time. I just realized that based on my background, some of you probably read the first few lines of this entry and thought I was going to talk about the political philosopher/theorists. and then I'm sure the ones who read that probably quickly stopped reading because they don't like reading about when I share my philosophical learnin'.
anyway I brought up Calvin and Hobbes because they came up with Calvinball. there aren't any rules except for that you have to wear a mask. I tried to play it with my friend Lawson back in the day when I lived in Louisville. but it didn't really work out because during the game we kept trying to change the rules so that we would each be winning. similarly, that's how most of the games of Calvinball ended up between Calvin and Hobbes.
quick aside: I hate those stickers that have Calvin peeing on something. he's way cooler than being reduced to a bumper sticker.
well today me and my friends came up with a game called Wiffle Golf. basically you play golf with a wiffle ball and we realized that people had probably been doing that to practice their swing forever... so... we invented Urban Wiffle Golf Dodgeball. this is where the person who starts as "it" drives the wiffle ball as far as they can, while the other people playing run away. as soon as the ball stops moving, then everyone has to freeze. then you can throw the wiffle ball at whoever you want, same rules of dodgeball apply at this point.
there's a new artist out there who draws a comic strip called Frazz named Jef Mallet who draws just like Watterson did. he says he was never influenced by him, but he's got to be a liar. LIRD.
