No I was not banned from anywhere, but there is a point here.
I belong to a sports chatroom about the Atlanta Braves. (My favorite team)
While the mods there are usually great, they can also be very strict.
Last night I was watching the Mets and Braves, and the Braves were losing badly (As happens to all sports teams on certain nights)
Predictably, the fans of the chatroom were in a surly mood.
Quite a few fans (Including yours truly) started maybe posting negative things, but not swearing. Just saying things like. "This pitcher pitched poorly" or "The Braves should have gotten more runs and hits in that inning than they did"
Suddenly we found out that the mods started messaging the fans who were upset , and saying things like.
"If you guys don't cut it out with the downers and complaining, whoever keeps doing this is going to be "muted" basically banned for 30 days, where you might be able to see what others post, but you will not be able to post.
Thus, once we found this out, the complaining and instant messaging each other about the bad game stopped.
I found out that the first step is usually the 30 day ban, and then after that there may be one more chance, another 30 day ban, and if even one thing that a mod does not like is said by someone that person is gone for good.
I honestly did not know about this rule until last night.
The Braves won 7-0 over the Mets today, which I watched.
With the playoffs coming up, from now on no matter what happens, win 10-0 or lose 10-0 I'm just going to sit by, watch the game, and if I'm in the chatroom or on the forum, say little or nothing. It is not worth getting suspended or banned over a game.
It just surprised me about this rule, simply for fans talking about a bad game, if whichever fans did it were not swearing, or taunting other fans of either the Braves or another team.
