When I was 20 I had a job pumping gas at a yacht club, where a self-made millionaire would joke with me, saying "I don't understand the poor- they always dress unfashionably, drive old cars, never seem to vacation in interesting places and for some reason avoid caviar. Just can't figure them out".

I still find it funny.

I can also laugh at it, because there's a gigantic elephant in the room that the article ignores, that the debates about the "1%" ignore, and I wish Cracked would do an article about it:

The fact that the government, local, state, and federal...ESPECIALLY in today's world, WASTE money like an insane white hot horny tickle lover who just spilled orgasm-enhance on his dick after taking 10 Viagras after eating a sex enhancing Ginseng stir fry thrown buck naked in a room full of sheer toe suntan stockinged big natural tittied hotties who absolutely LOVE to be tickled, and all have a crush on him after they show him to the feather bin....... perhaps the rich and poor alike wouldn't be so averse to paying taxes.

Even if I'm disgusting out of touch rich, I'd STILL be pissed off having to pay ANYTHING in taxes, when some sleazy, smug, condescending asshole politician will line his pockets, his buddies pockets, and waste it like he never earned it...because he hasn't earnd it.......

To keep it in the funny realm, ...true story - our local area was to vote several months ago on raises taxes to "repair" broken schools. The front page the day before the vote was a picture of about 4 inch thick mildew and mold on the ceiling of a roof building, dirty hallways, etc. with the various blurbs asking , "Would YOU, yes, YOU!!!! want to send your kids to this school! How.....fucking....COULD YOU!!!!!!!"

But for some reason, probably a mistake, or they had to, they posted letters and comments from people who saw the pics online. Every single one of them opposed the tax hike -
"Didn't we just VOTE for a tax hike?! Now they need ANOTHER one! Where the hell did the money go?!"
"Didn't you just build these schools a few years ago?!!"
"Where's the casino money we voted on "for education"?!!"

...and the comment that I believe sealed the vote against - "Does anyone in this school know how to use a %#@*ing bottle of bleach?!!!!!!"

Just goes to show, you don't need drugs to be disconnected from reality! (Though I'm sure those folks have all indulged in a little Bolivian marching powder on occasion!)

Oh yeah, show me a "self-made" millionaire and I'll show you a liar. Individual initiative only gets you so far. You need certain folks to help you open certain doors (and no, I'm not necessarily talking about corruption).

But seriously, I have the dubious honor of living in a state that under both Republican and Democratic administrations still manages to have the sleaziest, most dysfunctional gov't in the nation (why, it even got its own half-hour segment on This American Life because of it!). Boss Tweed lives!

Gotta try one of those stir-fries soon, though!

Back in the day, Cracked was just a low-rent ripoff of Mad Magazine. They've gotten a lot punchier and newsier since. Gotta give 'em credit!
