A Question for the Audiophiles on the Forum...about Speakers.

Hi there.

I have a pair of old pioneers that have tissue cones that I want to replace with some sort of poly-material (I don't think I would have access to Kevlar).

How do I go aboot doing this, and how much do you think it would cost? Can I do it myself?

The cost is astronomical to do something like that. You're better off replacing the component. Not the whole cabinet, just that one area.

Go on ebay and find a decent set of woofers. And if you want good, quality sound-- I recommend getting away from Pioneers. Cerwin-Vegas, BOSE and Infinity are ideal for home sound. Kenwood's are slightly tinny, but some folks dig them.

I'd also recommend staying away from dual voice coil. Too much power.

Agreed, Infinity's sound amazing and seemed to last the longest out of what we had.

I can also backup the suggestion of CV (Cerwin Vegas). My last towers had CV 15" woofers and shook the home theater to the ground.
