Adding skype name

I'm trying to update my skype name to my profile to aide contacts, but it happens to be my main email address. But it won't let me put that in. So, I try to put my real name in there as well, to be found that way, and it won't allow that either. What do I need to do to update that information on my profile? Please help. What error are you getting when you try to modify it? It could be that the Skype portion of the profile is something that broke during one of our many updates/software problems, although I am not really sure how that could be.
