Hey guys!!
We are currently going through a nasty heat wave of approx 40+ degrees Celsius days and I'm looking for some fun and or simply practical ways to keep cool :)

Wear a bikini. If it's really too hot for that, wear only the bottom half.

Currently I'm trying the ceiling fan, no clothes and a water filled spray bottle to help me cool down enough to sleep

I have an age-old remedy that has been passed through my family for generations:

Live in a cloudy region.

I recommend Washington. Lots of cloud cover, and not everything that crawls through the dirt is bigger than your head, and/or wants to kill you.

I'm right there with you ticklegal...get a good book and sit in a cool bath for a while...

I use to work in the desert for an military explosives place. They put them out there so if they blow up not many get hurt LOL Anyway it use to be 120 F - 135 F a lot of times. My advice is drink LOTS and LOTS of water. You need to keep hydrated and stay hydrated. If not you can get really sick. Also stay out of the sun and heat if you can. So be indoors as much as possible, preferably in places with AC. If you dont have AC maybe goto a air conditioned mall where you can hang out.

Heat waves tend to last awhile as they are often stable high pressure systems but hopefully yours breaks quickly.

Luckily I work in an office which gets quite cold so I'm ok during work hours but at night it's terrible!!

I hears ya. I am in the Valley and sometimes our summers can be brutal. Though a bit easier then the desert :) I need cool to sleep myself so sometimes I just run the AC and sleep on the couch underneath if its a real nasty hot day.

Today was only 38 Celsius and tomorrow should be in the 20's then back up to the 40's Thursday and Friday! Hopefully is cooler than 40 on Saturday otherwise they will call off tennis :( been hanging for the break to end and we play against a guy from works team so there is a massive rivalry!!

When the heat is bothering me, I just walk out onto my porch, which is covered with snow. :p

As a child of the 1990's, and a veteran of many water fights, my advice would be, buy yourself one of these bad-boys, fill it up, and pull the trigger :D

@Ticklegal, you have my sympathies. Stupidly-hot summer days are no fun (no offence to those who might disagree).

When it gets to be 100+ (about 40 C) here, I duck into the nearest air-conditioned library, mall, etc. If you have no A/C at home, a fan blowing on you (intaking) through a window along with your ceiling fan should work decently. Kurchatovium is absolutely right about hydration. Drink as much as possible but avoid alcohol, that can remove water.

And I hope your heat wave breaks soon. I remember one summer here when it was uncomfortably hot every day, all summer long.
