Any video editing/converting programs someone could recomend?

I posted some sample clips int he video section, but it seems like half the people know how to view avi or what program to use. For me, my Windows media player works just fine for that. But i was thinking if there was a decent free or cheap program i could get that may allow me to add a little editing to the clips and change formats that would be helpful in making the clips more user friendly.

i use "any video converter". its completely free and seems to work fine with larger files. and you can upgrade the quality to what you want...search download.com for it so you dont get spyware., oh and your clips are awesome man.

Personally I go with MPEG Streamclip. Also free.
