Atlantic City Tickle Party

Is there still a chance there may be a Atlantic City Party? I thought it wasn't going to go down. Did I miss something? Is it back on? If the party is back on, you can count me in also. And if I can help in someway let me know. I live roughly 45min. away.

Don't just wait for someone to post, "yes I am looking for help, please help me." I suggest some of you start pming each other with ideas for when, where and how. But eventually, someone just has to take charge of this thing and pick a date.

When I do a NY munch, I just pick a time and place, send out some evites and see who shows up. I might ask people for availability for beforehand, but ultimately I'll just an executive decision. If I need more people I'll send out some pm's.

It doesn't have to be so hard to get a gathering done. But if all you do is just talk about a potential gathering, it will NEVER happen.

On that topic, the first munch had only four guests, and only one female attendee who was a friend visiting from out of town and I knew wouldn't be a regular. Word of mouth spread and the next one had 18 guests with four or five local female attendees. You just get it started, even if it's small, even if it has no women. You get word of mouth, maybe your guests bring a friend or two next time. To quote Shoeless Joe Jackson, "If you build it, they will come."

In fact it occurs to me perhaps the best solution is for one of you to set up a munch first rather than a gathering. You just need a space that can accomodate a big group of people where you can talk freely. In AC you can do this in any restaurant at any hotel/casino. You pick a date, make a reservation and post the info publicly. Send evites, send ims, send pm's. Get the word out. Once you do a munch you will have some idea how many people are interested and more women are likely to come once they have met people in a non play setting first. If anyone has questions for me, feel free to ask here or via pm. I'd like to see you folks get your scene started.

Now someone please just step up now, take charge, and make an ac event happen.
 
So a munch is just that, a get together in public for snax? No "play" just to meet? A room in a restaurant should be easy to set up...used to do that with church groups all the time...

I'm still "in the closet" about this- would we have to have a big sign out front in the restaurant saying "AC Tickle-people this way" or something equally exposing?? Or could we use a euphamism?

("ACT-UP: Atlantic City Ticklers United Proletariat" or something catchy like that)

And How much advance notice? A month??

I'd best describe a munch as a get together of ticklephiles but without the expectation of play. That doesn't have to be a firm no play rule, it just usually works out that way because if you meet in a restaurant or lounge for food and drinks, you are not going to want to bother other patrons or staff with loud hysterical squeals. And if everyone is meeting for the first time they likely wouldn't be comfortable with immediate play at the munch, at least until they have got to know folks a bit.

As for privacy issues, there is no reason anyone at the venue has to know what your group is about. I never tell them. Once I decide on a location I'll call up the venue and say something like,"Hi my name is Dave **********. I'd like to reserve a space for approximately 20 friends on the 31st. We will be there 2-3 hours. Can you accomodate me.". That's as much as they have to know. Occasionally a waitress has asked what the party is for and I'll just say, "oh were just friends and friends of friends hanging out. No occasion.".

As for notice, for a first munch, a month is probably a good length. You are going to want to give people enough time to clear their schedule and yourself enough time to im, pm, email, evite, call, etc... as many people as you think might be interested. When you have built a core group of regulars, future munches dont require that much notice.

I always make several public posts to start. I would also suggest pming everyone in this thread who expressed interest.

The great thing about munches are that even though there probably won't be any play at the restaurant, after people get comfortable with one another, they will often set up play later that day. And even if that doesn't happen, once you get your group established, it will be much easier to get a pure play gathering off the ground.

The point of my posts was not to assign blame. I can see you and several others have been contributing ideas. But sometimes when nothing continues to get done, someone just has to take the lead and set it up on his or her own. These are just my opinions as someone who hosts in this community.
 
Wow thanks for the info. I'm ready to start organizing a "munch" soon as i get a day off...

Guess it's best to pick a location that's real easy to find...like right off the Expressway or Parkway
 
Sorry I just saw this now, but if one ever does, happen, I'm a female lee pretty close to AC
