I just saw Star Wars: The Last Jedi in 3D IMAX. It is episode VIII in the chronological arrangement of the eventual nine part series of films.
The big three main characters of the original 1977 Star Wars were Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia. As you already know, Han Solo dies at the end of episode VII. What made me very sad is that Luke Skywalker dies as the end of episode VIII. That leaves Princess Leia as a widow whose husband and whose brother were both killed by her own son.
The message from the movie makers to me is clear: Time for your generation to die. We are after the admission dollars of the 12 to 25 year old audience.
