Does anyone on here not drink?

I've been advised not to drink, because of 1: family history of alcoholism, and 2: I'm diabetic. Besides, I've found myself having a much better time getting high off my own endorphins and all the other brain chemicals that we can produce on our own to make us feel good through exercise, meditation... and laughing alot. Good times!

What you're saying sounds much like me, except for the friends thing. My friends have NOT been respective of me choosing not to drink when out with them in the past. They bust my balls and order me drinks even when I ask them not to. They also are NOT fun to be around if you are not going to drink because all they do is sit at a bar stool and drain beers and shots until they're extremely hammered. Basically, for me, it is a combination of my inability to handle alcohol when I do drink, along with the fact that the group I hang around with pretty much do nothing else but drink heavily in their spare time.

Pretty much what the other guy said, you need to find some new friends.

Being drunk sucks. You feel sloppy. You make a fool out of yourself, and I've learned that first impressions can cause people to label you as a drunk or an asshole forever, regardless of how you are when you aren't drinking. I only used to drink on weekends, but when I did I made a dickhead out of myself. Learned the hard way that even if you try hard to be nice to someone or show that you aren't a drunk, if first time you met them you made a douchebag out of yourself, that's pretty much the impression of you that they will have from that point on.

I also hate that feeling the next day. When you wake up with a headache, stomach ache, dry mouth, and dread looking at your cell phone to see who your drunk dialed or texted.

It's kind of funny to watch certain facebook friends who I know drink alot, and try to make sense of their status updates when they show up in my newsfeeds.

I don't drink but do not mind if other people do within moderation. Drinking and Viagra is like a reverse James Bond martini....stirred, not shaken. ;( With all the deaths and misery alcohol abuse has caused, is it really worth the risk? If alcohol makes you look better, then why don't the babes forsake the luxury sedan drivers for the guys driving the beer trucks?

I don't drink, but it's because I can't stand the taste of alcohol. People keep telling me it's an acquired taste, but I just don't like it.

I haven't been drunk a day in my life. Someone is rolling their eyes at me right now which is why I don't advertise that fact in person. It's like saying you're a feminist Jehovah's Witness against abortion. People just assume you're no fun

Given the choice I prefer the atmosphere of a pool hall. No raging drunks, it's quiet, no hordes of people dancing to songs that weren't written for dancing So ofcourse no one goes to pool halls. Not drinking does make it alot harder to socialize, ALOT harder. I'm looking for other interests right now to socialize but my faith is kind of worn thin because even when I have met people in other places the next thing they want to do is "go for a drink".

When it comes down to it I just hate the idea of giving up all my control. Yeah I know this forum is based on giving up control but I consider that a separate thing. If I say or do something stupid it's going to be on my own merrits, not because I had 10 beers and thought I was Brad Pitt
