Being a big Horror Movie fan I wanted to recommend a few
titles to fellow TMF horror enthusiasts. These are titles that are no
where near mainstream. Titles that went straight to DVD or were only
in theaters for a short while, but are still decent and worth a look.
Likewise, I would like some recommendations for films...because it may
be something I haven't seen.

Remember now, all these are not super great, but still enjoyable if
your into horror flicks. Some are hard core and some are more comical.

1. Feast
2. Dead Birds
3. Slither
4. Borderland
5. Laid To Rest
6. Shallow Grounds
7. My Name is Bruce
8. Hatchet

Check em out, you might be surprised. In a horrific kind of way.

Nice.

Feast and Borderland are in my Netflix Queue.

Hehe..........slither......YEAH!

Thanks for the other recommendations. I'll try em.

ps. Dead Silence is pretty good.

All good movies, but My Name Is Bruce is awesome! Bruce Campbell is simply the man! He is so great in MNIB.

i started watching My Name is Bruce one day and never finished it one day i want to and for the others i have heard of a few and want to see them i am a huge horror fan i saw the friday the 13th reamke the othere night it was ok nothing like the original tho but good

I thought Slither was silly. I know this is a new, more publicized one, but Drag Me To Hell actually kind of creeped me out, and that's kind of an achievement for a horror movie.

I like

House
House 2
Evil dead

Fright Night
Fright Night 2. Vampires are awsome! :bat:

Love horror.. Drag Me to Hell was definitely worth seeing. Trying to think of lesser known movies:

The Brood
In the Mouth of Madness
Midnight Meat Train
Suspiria
Altered States
Prince of Darkness
The Serpent and the Rainbow
Session 9

The Shining
The Bad Seed
Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?
Eraserhead
Dementia 13
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
Nosferatu
Freaks

Some of my favorite oldschool horror films

Wow, Thanks Guys, some cool suggestions. I've seen many of them but
not all. A lot of good films listed. :)

I want to see Drag Me to Hell, it looks good plus Sam Raimi makes some great films. I was actually suppose to
go to a special screening for Midnight Meat Train but missed it because I was sick.
Anything with "Bullet Tooth Tony" as the bad guy is worth a look.

adrenalayna,... yes :) Slither is silly, but that's what makes it fun. Kinda don't take me serious
horror and a semi homage to the old school horror film the Blob.

Tamia78, I do want to see Dead Silence, looks good.

ShadowFyre, Bruce Cambell is most definitely the man. My Name
is Bruce is hilarious, gothfreakhell really should finish watching it. :D

Trez, Dance of the Dead is a fun blast at zombie films, I was
going to list that one but forgot. Good choice.

Fordtech30, Good choices as well, I've see you love
the 80s horror.

Zen, I haven't seen all of those so I'll check the ones I
haven't seen out, Suspiria is real freaky.

Perduabo, That is some definite old school horror. I've
seen a few of those, I'll look up the ones I haven't.

Another good film worth taking a look at is called Tooth and Nail.
The main bad-guy from "Midnight Meat Train" stars in it, the
reference reminded me.

A lot of cool suggestions, Thanks to all who posted and any other fans with suggestions
feel welcome to share. :frankie:

Here are a few more you might like to check out;

Night of the Creeps
Return of the Living Dead 3
From Beyond
May

And a few more:

The Children of the Corn
The Descent
Ginger Snaps
Pitch Black

Cannibal Holocaust
Anything by Mario Bava or Dario Argento
I Spit On Your Grave
Shutter (the original Asian film)
28 Days/Weeks Later
Dawn of the Dead

WOW, Thanks for all the responses to everyone who
posted. I'd like to respond to everyone individually but
I got way more responses than I thought I would.

A lot of good suggestions, I've seen many of them, but not
all. I'm going to check the ones that I haven't seen out

Thanks Guys and Gals.

Dr. Volin, Night of the Creeps is crazy- "Ladies I have some good news
and bad news. Good News is your dates are here, bad news is
they're dead". Funny zombie flick.
I just watched From Beyond a coupleof weeks ago.
Good movie, Ken Foree and Jeffery Combs are awesome.

Also horror fans might want to check out the limited run one season
horror/murder mystery Harper's Island. It only has two eps left of the thirteen,
but the DVD box set is coming out in September. I think it's been awesome,
a little slow to start but once it started going it's been bad ass. If you like slasher type
films like the first Friday the 13th I think you'll like it.

Wait a minute!!!!!!

Return of the Living Dead 3 was mentioned but NOT the first two???

Return 1 and 2 are classics.....and absolutley hysterical!!!!!!

Drew(yeah......I'm back)

Drag Me to Hell was a great new horror movie. I didn't know what to expect when I went to see it. I decided to see it because I am a fan of all horror films, even the cheesy bad ones. I am glad that I went to see Drag Me to Hell.

Oh i LOVED Slither! i watched it because it had Nathan Fillion and i really enjoyed it all. it had comedy action and horror, the trifecta of greatness.

i highly recommend Slither

I just finished watching "Voices". It was actually pretty good, and some parts made me jump a little.

It's a S. Korean film, and also one of the "Horrorfest 2008" movies.
Speaking of Bruce Campbell, how come no one mentioned the Evil Dead series????

Oh yeah.......you HAVE to see "Teeth" I'm not going to ruin it, just watch it. My all time fave horror movie!

Oh yeah, Slither is a lot of fun. Very underrated movie.

Drag Me to Hell was great. I just love the title too..it sound so 70s cheese. It's the first PG-13 movie since Poltergeist that really scared me. I'm so glad Sam Raimi took a break from Spiderman and went back to horror.

Some "lesser known" horror movies I would recommend (I imagine you've probably seen most of them):

I thought Frailty was very well done. It's directed by Bill Paxton and stars Matthew McConaughey and Powers Booth. Even though I don't like Matthew McConaughey that much, he's pretty good in this.

The original, 1974 Black Christmas is good. As much as I loved When A Stranger Calls and Halloween (I think both are more effective), I must say this movie paved the way for them.

And speaking of 70s...Sisters, one of Brian De Palma's first films is creepy.

Some little known flicks.

The Ugly => A psychiatrist tries to understand the mind of a serial killer (New Zealand)

Mr. Frost => A man claims to be Satan. Is he or is he just crazy?

I used to have a Slither movie poster.. but in all honesty i only wanted it because i thought the movie was about killer sausages :D

Evil Dead series is great, must of slipped our minds ha ha :). I
think there's propably a lot of films that aren't being mentioned,
that someone will think of later and post about and then It'll be
why didn't I think to list that one. :)

Teeth, I've heard about it and do plan on seeing it.
It's one of the films I keep planning on watching and then it slips
my mind. I remember reading about it sometime ago and thinking
damn....now that's a concept for a horror flick.

I'm glad many people like Slither as well, It is a very underrated film
IMHO. Nathan Fillion is an awesome actor and funny too.

Black Christmas is a good film and agree it did pave the way for the
slasher genre. It's been a long while since I've seen it. I think they
recently remade it but I didn't see that. I usually see all the remakes
but somehow missed that one.

Frailty is great and has that cool twist ending.

I believe I saw Mr. Frost years ago and thought it to be very creepy, or
at least the main criminal was creepy. I remember his crimes were very disturbing and
so was he. Wasn't he played by Jeff Goldblum?

Man there are a lot of horror fans and a lot of horror films, I think
slowly people will start to think of more. I've viewed many over the years
and haven't even come close to taking them all in.

There are so many direct to DVD releases now that it's impossible
to see everything and the sad thing is a lot of them are better
than what's being tossed into theaters and you don't even hear
about them. That's the main reason why I started this thread.

And Yes TklDuo-Drew I agree those two are classics. :D

Yes the main criminal in Mr Frost was played by Jeff Glodblum. It was one of his better roles. Not a role he usually plays and I thought he did an excellent job.

Another flick that has gotten little attention is The Haunting In Conetticut. Very scary flick based on a true story. I saw the documentary on this and it was quite terrifying. They decidied to do a movie based on that documentary. I have not seen the movie but if it sticks to the true story it will scare the snot out of you. :p
