While this is mainly aimed at writers, really anybody can share their two cents on the matter.
When I write I like to enter what I call "The Zone", which is just basically a state of focus wherei'm pretty much completely focussed on my work, and all distractions are pushed out. Now, usually I get to this state by putting on some headphones and listening to music. I usually try and style the music around the material i'm writing (ie, fantasy music for fantasy material, etc) but sometimes other music. On occasion i'll put on a movie or tv series, but usually only ones I've seen before so I already know what's happened, and it can mainly be background noise, save the occasional really good part.
What about all you out there? How do you get into "The Zone?"
