Best known for her role as the elderly Rose in Titanic. Made it to 100 years old! May she rest in peace.

'Sigh'.... Yes, she had the lead female part in two movies by James Whale ( who directed 'Frankenstein' with Boris Karloff) : 'The Invisible Man' in 1933, and "The Old Dark House"in 1932. I hope her life was as great as it was long !

Those are all classics. In those days it was not all about special effects and as much blood and gore as possible. Some things were left to the imagination of the viewer..

Yes, that is something that I should have expanded on. Ms. Stuart's career spanned many years, as far back as 1932. Interestingly enough, her hiatus from acting spanned nearly 30 years (there is a gap from 1946-1975). This is a photo from early in her career. Quite a beautiful lady in her day.

She was a beauty, and smart as well. Had she landed better roles for much of her career she would, in my opinion be as famous as Hepburn, Bacall, Bette Davis and others of her era. Many people who saw her roles post 1975 probably had no idea who she was. A shame.
