I don't know, but I think this film has the potential to be pretty damn good.

This film is going to be AMAZING. If the awesome footage wasn't enough, Geoff Johns (who has been writing for Green Lantern for years now, and is currently head writer at DC) has seen the film and loves it. I. Can't. Wait.

You know, I've never been the type to get in a snit because a film adaptation isn't taking lines directly from the comic book, or because they fiddle with costumes or timelines or what have you. I've long said that comics and cinema are different mediums, and what works in one may not work in the other, so this may make me hypocrite for saying what I'm about to say.

But.... This is supposed to be Hal Jordan; and judging from both this footage and the initial teaser, Reynolds is not playing Hal Jordan, he's playing Kyle Rayner. This is nothing against that character, I actually really like Rayner and felt that some of the shit he got from more hardcore Hal Jordan supporters was never really fair. But claiming this is supposed to be Jordan in the film isn't working for me, they just don't seem to be getting the spirit of the character right.

Then again, I admit I did geek out for just a minute seeing Sinestro as a good guy and knowing what's coming.

I don't really see that at all. He's playing Jordan at the very beginning of his Green Lantern career, and while it may not mesh perfectly with Emerald Dawn-era Jordan, if you take a look at Green Lantern over the past 5 or 6 years, especially Secret Origin, the portrayal here is pretty spot on.

Either way, I don't see any similarities with Kyle Rayner in this.

(Also, hell yeah, Mark Strong's Sinestro is gonna be incredible. I hope we get to hear the Sinestro Corps oath from him someday. :3 )

What's even better about Mark Strong's Sinestro was that the character was based literally based on David Niven....who probably NEVER would have played him. But they wanted Jackie Earle Haley, who I love in most roles....but not as Sinestro.
And damn, the cartoon drawings of Sinestro didn't look at ALL like him!

Among all the actors in Hollywod, Mark Strong literally IS Sinestro...and to add a big fucking cherry on top of all that goodness, he confirmed in an interview that his origin and character is EXACTLY like the early telling in the comic book.....

AHHHHHHhhhhhh a sigh of huge relief!

I'm actually amazed how close to the comic this movie will be, ...damn!

The cast is so stellar, Angela Basset (who should have been Storm in the X-Men, dammit!) Tim Robbins, who's politics I hate, but he is a rare case that I absolutely love him despite of all that!

And the best of all, directed by Martin Campbell, one of my favorite directors! (Casino Royale, best James Bond ever!)

I watched this trailer earlier today and have to say that I'm quite impressed. As a comic book fanatic growing up, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this movie.

Mark Strong as Sinestro is such a perfect choice that, since the casting was announced, I can't read Green Lantern without imagining Sinestro speaking in his voice.

And the casting of ancillary characters shows just as much care for the comics. Angela Bassett as Amanda Waller is going to be fantastic, and Geoffrey Rush voicing Tomar-Re fits so well that I'm stunned I hadn't imagined it beforehand. :D

Martin Campbell is the shit!

Go check out the making of Casino Royale. That guy who runs away from Bond in the beginning is actually one of the creators of this sport where guys have to run from point A to B, going over or through whatever obstacle is in their way. The fact that he made the effort to hire THE pro shows how he wants the best for each role. He could have easily got an actor to do it, but why not hire THE INVENTOR?!!!

His directing is just top notch. It's relatively quickly editted, so it doesn't bore, but it's not editted so fast you don't know what the fuck is going on. Which is becoming rare in today's movies and media. Battle Los Angeles showed some of this, as did parts of the second Daniel Craig Bond, and Transformers - who is fighting who, where is actor whoever even shooting at, what's the geography of the action scene......basically, "What the fuck is going on?!!"

Also he does as much as he can with no special effects. The fight on the crane....yes, that was both actors, WAYYYYY up there, no blue scree! Modern movies that use too much CGI are becoming souless - compare Indiania Jones 4 to 1, 2, or 3. (And better yet, the Star Wars Prequels to the originals!!!)

I can sit down and watch Casino Royale from the beginning to the end, and be enthralled the whole time. Most movies, I fast forward to the good scenes. His movies have little to no "filler."
