Why are the banana and the hot dog female characters? Shouldn't that be the other way 'round?

As for the cat in bondage, I wonder how many "undercover" BDSMers there were in the greeting card industry back in the day (you couldn't be at all open about it at the time those vintage cards were made)? Or maybe the card manufacturer just knew segments of its audience!
