Oh, most definitely. But that's life. Sometimes people surprise you, and sometimes they disappoint you.

The important things are not to let them turn you off to getting to know others, and to avoid being hoodwinked into the common conceit of making dispositional assumptions based on behaviors of circumstance, unless the behaviors are so often repeated (regardless of circumstance) that it seems it must indicate something about character (disposition).

That is, try to judge the behavior, and not the person, until time and consistency show the former is truly representative of the latter.
