This started a while ago as a joke thread.
It eventually evolved into a personal image vault.
I'm still updating it with previews, odds and ends and assorted contents that just won't fit anywhere else.

...

Enjoy.

That's a very non-responsive question mark. I will keep checking it from time to time.

I have a feeling we could be here for a while. Maybe I should sell popcorn to spectators.

Good one, Kalamos. *Shouts out to the crowd* Who wants a hot dog? 3 bucks each!

This is a great piece of work, but wouldn't be quite so effective if placed where it should actually be (instead of here in the tickling art section). Bravo again on this thread. :D

Ah, its placement is the most masterful achievement of all!

...

You see... this art-less thread in the art forum is actually getting more hits than my other, picture-endowed threads.

So I'm trying to discover if people finally got to hate me [or at least, dislike me as much as I dislike the next door Joe], or if my pics are for some reason sub-par, and not really worthy of a first or second look.

...

Considering I'm getting more input from a *pic-less* thread, I'll start posting more threads like this, and claim it's minimal art or something.

...

So what? I told you I am mildly deranged!
Now give me money or I'll tell you the tale of my life!

...

:D :D :D

Wouldn't it be better if we say nothing and you continue to draw. That way everybody's happy!

Why?
This thread is getting more exposure than some of my "best" pics.

Minimal art? This is going one step beyond the adage "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

"Art is in the mind of the beholder".

So, you put nothing here and let the people viewing your thread simply imagine the art for themselves. That way, every viewer likes what they see....

Or my psychoanalysis of the idea is total crap. Whichever. :p

It started out as a joke, but turned into an experiment of sorts.
Let's talk numbers, for the sake of debate. ;)

Here are some of my least viewed pics.

* Rambling Rogue - Goofy Gopher.
About 1600 hits.
About 2400 hits by late March 2006.

* Cybertickling.
About 1500 hits.
About 1700 hits by late March 2006.

* Cosmic Pirate from Outer Space.
About 1400 hits.

* Ticklish Faery.
About 900 hits.

* Lorynna vs the Undead.
About 700 hits.

Sure, some other threads of mine [such as the Elven Tree] got well over 2000 hits, but I should thank Ness, HDS and the drawing folks for that.

This thread is only 2 days old, and it's already got over 500 hits.
It's 250 hits per day for *nothing*.

...

You could argue people can't comment on my pics cause I keep deleting older threads.
Partly true, but the latest piece, Rambling Rogue, has been around since Oct 2nd.
That's 11 days, at a modest 145 hits per day.

...

So maths is against us.
The more I draw, the less people watch my pics.

I should actually ask money for NOT drawing at all!

:D :D :D

I think a lot of people are just too lazy to comment on artworks, Kalamos. I know I usually am.

I just have the bad luck of not noticing; Its really up to what mood I'm in. Patient, then nothing goes by me unnoticed. (except importants stuff.:p)

Ah, I'm not talking about "comments". I'm talking about "raw" hits.
That is, the number of times a given thread is being viewed.

This lovely [and empty] thread of mine is getting more hits - visitors - than, say, Pabuluz's or Anime316's latest pics.

So it's not about being lazy. It's either something about catchy titles [people are hurried to find loot in the shortest available time] or... dunno. Potential flames. Saucy debates. Good old muck throwing?

Dunno. You name it. :)

...

No real point. Just observing the outcome of my little experiment.

:D :D :D

That could be it. When you search all new and updated threads since you were last at the forum, I (at any rate) tend to go by catchy thread titles. Perhaps the paradoxical statement in this thread title has caught people's eyes more than the titles of your picture threads, Kalamos?

So, this proves my point: why spend time drawing pics when I could simply draw people in with eye-catching titles?

:D :D :D

I could try and post my older pics under different titles and see if they get more or different reactions.

...

Goes to show quality [dodgy?] marketing beats quality merchandise, though...

:D :D :D

Not necessarily so, Kalamos. The right marketing may be better than quality products, but surely the two combined (right marketing + quality products) would easily outshine anything else?

And * asteriks *... lots of them... *****

...

:D :D :D

...

Mmm... there is a random factor associated with thread popularity, plus the undeniable edge a catchy title will give.

But when we're talking quality, I thought, by now, my stuff would "sell" well even with a mundane wrapping.

:D :D :D

I mean, it's not like I'm drawing crap.
Been here, drawing stuff, since late 2003.
Hoped people would click my pics, trusting my name, without needing me to lure them with shiny objects.

;)

And this pointless thread is beating anybody's art *without* a shred of tickling pic!

:D :D :D

...

Mind you, I'm not bitching for the sake of it.
Just voicing something I started noticing back in late 2004.

I'm not chasing people to know what they like.
After all it's me giving you something, not the other way around.
Sure, good rep is good. But gold is better, if you get my meaning.

...

Just trying to figure out, for the sake of academy, what the heck people want.

When new drawers pop up, I read "Ah, you're the best artist I see after a good while".
And I wonder: "What? What about the rest of us?"

"Ah, that's it, you're jealous green!", I can hear you folks.
Sure, why not?
Whom am I drawing for?
Ness and Tukano alone?

Well... on a second thought... I am drawing for myself and my pals.
That's why I delete my pics after a while.

Once they get to see them, no sense in leaving them lying around.

...

So, tell you what: as soon as this thread strikes 1000, I'll post something from my archive.

I have a few pics in my drawer you probably haven't seen yet.
Or just a couple of times.

...

Then I'll just delete them and let this thread sink into oblivion.

;)

Maybe you should repost! There are thousands of new members who joined just recently, so they probably never even heard of your old artworks! :) (like me, for I've only seen a couple....I guess I should search more.):p

Mmm...

* Scratches head *

The few pics I don't usually delete are currently lying in the RPG forum.
Those are gaming assets, so to say...

:D :D :D

...

Nope, no amount of searching will yield fruits when I'm a bad mood.
Only my pals know when I post something new.

...

And even they sometimes miss a pic or two.

;)
