I know.... long time no see. I'm doing great and enjoying life to it's fullest.
Just in case any of you have received emails from either me or Marty saying we are stuck in Wales and that I'm in the hospital....it's a farce. A hacker got into Marty's AOL email sometime during the night. He then created a similar email address by adding one letter to the email address and then sent an email blast to everyone on Marty's contact list. He also got into Marty's Facebook and changed all the email contact addresses in there and he was posting stuff on Facebook that his "Family" was having problems in Wales.
The email says we are in Wales and were mugged outside our hotel and that we lost every credit card and all our money and piece of ID. It also says we need money to pay the hotel and to get me out of the hospital. It says I'm in the hospital due to the stress - now come on.... can you REALLY see that from me? Nope, I didn't think so. Now hospitalized because I broke my hand beating the tar out of that guy might be something else... but that didn't happen because NONE if it happened. The verbiage in the email doesn't even sound like Marty and that tipped off a bunch of our friends that it was spam.
We are NOT in Wales or the UK - we're in Florida.
We were NOT Mugged - they wouldn't DARE!
I'm NOT in the Hospital - quite the contrary.
In other words..... it's a hacker trying to get money.
If you get that kind of email from Marty, me or anyone else for that matter, report it as spam immediately.
In the interest of your security - change your passwords immediately and often to help reduce the chance of a similar situation happening to you.
Mina - Thank you Darling for calling this morning. If there is one good thing about an email account being hacked is you find out how many wonderful people are in your life who care. I suppose that's the ONLY good thing about it though as it's been a day long adventure in working with AOL, Facebook and the authorities. Fortunately our banker is on top of things and Marty was on the phone making sure everything else was ok.
So we're fine. Life is good and just gets better every day.
