So here's the thing. I like my tickling with bondage. Not HARDCORE bondage like individually tied toes, intricate knots and hogties (no aspersions intended whatsoever), but chairs, tables and stocks. And I beg the question of myself why this is so. I know the tickling and the feet things are innate; they've been with me since before I can remember. But there's no rope gene. There's no shackle sequence coded in my DNA. The fact that I like tickling is separate from the WAY I like it best--and it only takes a bit of thought to see how.
This is where the power of images comes in. As a member of the latest generation to be raised on television, I spent a lot of time in front of it. I think it's true of any group that you crave validation and you look where you can for images that reflect you... whether it's tickle fetishists, cultural groups, etc. So it was with me... having no socially acceptable way to express it otherwise, I soaked up every reference I encountered on TV, in the paper, et cetera... and in my day, it was stuff like Ninja Turtles, Where's Waldo, TaleSpin... all concerned with interrogation, punishment, wood and metal. These all made me what I am today. Playful tickling, the impish grab of sides and poking of necks, never crossed these eyes.
And now I come to my point. A cursory look at the forums here tells me I'm not alone. At the risk of generalising, it seems like my entire generation thinks as I do. There's a whole CROP of dungeon mavens forged in the belly of Don Turtelli. That's all well and good for now, but my thoughts turn to those who will succeed us. I look at the mainstream today and the playful stuff seems wall-to-wall. Which, again, is not to say it's bad--it's best to have those images to dream on than none at all--but I am fascinated to see whether the next generation of ticklephiles thinks we're all a bunch of grotto-dwelling sadists.
Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places. Thoughts?

I think the way things are going, our successors will be more....how you say,....bondagi. in the future.

I'm the opposite--bondage isn't my thing. I think I know why, or at least mostly why--growing up I had two older step-siblings that used to ticklefight constantly. And they both obviously loved it, because they didn't struggle much when one got the clear upper hand. Therefore the image of playful tickling got embedded in my mind---they want it, so what's wrong with it? I did, of course, also grow up on Don Tortelli and the likes, but what I always noticed is how hard the Turtles kicked his butt for touching April and the kids;)

As to the "what will future generations be like" question, I think it'll be just like it is today---well diversified. Or at least I hope it will!

Just my two cents. Hope it's worth a good read:)

Of course it was! :) See, it's all about the environment. What you SAW is what you glommed onto.
In other words, I'm right. I'm RIGHT, dammit!

You are one lucky dude! (or dudette)

Did you get to tickle them? How about now - do you ever get to tickle them?

How about posting some memories in the stories section?

Inquiring minds want to know. ;)

LoL it's dudette, and no I never did join in. One of my major regrets now is that this happened when I was about 8-12, long before I learned that I wasn't the only one having butterflies in my tummy over the sight of tickling--I always hid it until I found TT. So alas, I never did get into the fun:(

But, of course, there are many memories that stick out. Such as the new years eve I was sitting at the computer and they were in the room behind me going at it--my stepsister, two years younger, had my stepbrother down on his butt in a corner giggling like a little girl!! I had to keep my eyes away from theirs to make sure they didn't see how excited it made me;)

It's a tough call. I'm from the pre-anime/pre-gaming generation, and there was very little to glom onto as a kid. The tickle/bondage-bug is and was an intrinsic part of me for as long as I can remember, though.
As a for-instance: Prior to reaching genital sexuality, as a small boy of 5/6 years old, I was drawing pix of Batman and Robin, in peril(as so often happened on their cheesy 60's show), bound on tickling machines and conveyor-belts. They were pictures of events I both craved and dreaded.
I really hit my stide later, when I discovered some of a friend's father's smut collection. In amongst the hardcore S&M and B&D, there were photo-mags of tied-up tickling! It was such a revelation!

I dunno how the next generation will be, but I suspect that they will have ALOT more exposure to tickling media, thanks to the Net and whatnot.

I'm one of the first members of that generation--I honestly don't know where I'd be without having discovered it on the Net when I did. Pathologically insecure, ashamed, alone? Jumping at the sight of any sign of tickling I see in the world around me? Left with a blind spot in my knowledge of self an inch long and a mile wide? Heading towards a marriage poisoned with secrets from day one?
Thank God it was not so.

I only pray that they use the power of the tickle for Good. Not Evil.

Perhaps the next generation will have Tickle Mobs that randomly assemble in public areas and descend on ticklish prey, capturing the whole sordid affair for posterity. :wooha:

I harken back to the pre-Net days, when we used smoke-signals and carrier pigeons to spread the tickle word throughout the Land. When the clans would choose elders to carry out the awesome responsibilities of tickling the dickens out of everyone, and the leaders would assemble for grand tournaments of torment along the Great Plains basin. Three day marathons of hilarity under the hot Wyoming sun and even the roughest riders hang up their spurs. Good times. :redstar:

As long as we plan for the worst-case contingencies, we can keep tickling a safe and wholesome pastime for generations-to-come. :)

Say, speaking of early, formative influences: I'd almost forgotten a biggy!

Way back when I was in Middle School(aka Jr. High), I had a friend who's Dad had a ton of pron, and we'd spend some bored afternoons leafing through old Penthouses, Oui's, and the like.

One day, while my friend was doing some chore or other for his Mom, I was reading the Letters Pages in a Penthouse from perhaps the early 70's, and there was a letter from a 'woman'(yeah, right) describing a dream she had where she was captured by a primitive tribe and tied standing in a spread-eagle between two stakes, while, one after another, the entire tribe took turns tickling her.

It was one of those big gulp, "There's someone else out there!" moments for me. I recall one of the long-time TMF members owing up to having written numerous tickling fetish letters to the adult mags, and I surmise it was this person. That's a pretty good indicator of how far we've come. From letters that were the pre-Net equivelent to tossing a bottle(with note) in the ocean to big huge forums with 50K memberships.

*cracks knuckles* ok heres the thing, first good to be open about it, gota be who u are, never let anyone tell ya diffrent. Im no psycologist, but to me, it seems its the icing on the cake. I love to tickle in bondage, but I dont mind playful either, whatevers fun. But its a psycologicl responce, U like tickling, u like to tickle, and u would naturaly not want anything to get in the way of it. So if the subject is restrained, they have to sit and suffer, its a controle thing. (no not in the bad way) I personaly love to mu subject held in some way unable to escape my attention.

I personally think that they will be exposed to it as a fetish much sooner than most of us were. I remember 10-12 years ago when I was just hitting puberty, going to a computer that was connected to the internet and typing in "tickling". I got quite a shock! There were only a handful of tickling sites, but most of them were huuge on the non-tickling porn aspect. There was this site...greatfeet.com....It had tickling animations of several people tied up, which was absolutely mind blowing to me at the time. It was, however, riddled with porn which sort of confused me. I wasn't quite sure what exactly was going on in those pictures, but I had a good feeling that I wasn't supposed to be seeing them. Aha, also, those little warnings at the beginnings of porn sites! I just remembered how you would have to click the box saying you're 18 or older, and those scared the heck out of me! Keep in mind this is when the internet was still fairly new and I was a little kid at the time, but I thought they would go and verify everybody! It took me forever to work up the courage to try it. My point, however, is that this technology is no longer new. Kids are raised with it today and will search for stuff like that more readily than the last generation, or my generation. I'm sure that we'll start seeing a junior TT or something, where kids talk about tickling with each other...or a lot of comments coming from "adults" that seem awfully childish... ;)

Someone who discovered the Net earlier than I did... as far as I'm concerned, you ARE the next generation! Congratulations; you'll be more well adjusted than I am. :p

Another vaguely remembered tickle "trigger" of sorts from when i was very young:

My Dad brought home a bookmark, I don't even recall the book it was for, but it featured a group of comically drawn 'monsters', with the heading "You'll Die Laughing!".

A tiny thing to latch onto, but as I say, we had so precious very little back in the day. All I know is, I was always so ticklish as a kid, it got me wondering, "Is it POSSIBLE to be tickled to death!". :wooha:
