I'm fairly new here so I do not know the procedures necessary to create a Sub-Forum or if this has been discussed before (I did a search for it and came up with nothing) so try not to rip me too hard if this sounds rediculous.

There are a number of different music themed threads floating around the General Discussion forum and I was thinking there may be enough interest in the subject to give 'Music' its own Sub Forum. I know that I would use it frequently and I am think that a lot of others would have enough interest in the subject to make it worth having its own Sub Forum.

As of now I feel like a lot of music threads kind of fall out of focus as they are lost in the pages and pages of threads found in the General Discussion section and if it had its own section there would be some good strong discussion.

It could be used to discover new music, talk about various artists, debate what is good and not (cough, cough Gaga...) among other things.

Anyways I just want to see what everyone thinks and go from there.

Thanks for reading!

not a ridiculous question but it indeed has come up several times and decided that it wasnt necessary to split the gen dis area up any more...

Music and other topics run cycles in general discussion....

Gotya, I see.

Well I hope to see a few good music discussion threads nonetheless!

:rockingout:

Also, just for your future information, there's a section in the "Welcome to the TMF" subforum for suggestions like this, in case you come up with any more.

I don't know about music, but I'd be happy if they herded all of the You-Tube posts into one designated area.

right now, i'm really into good old-fashioned rock and roll. i love the kinks, led zeppelin, jimi hendrix, etc. i'm mostly into 60s and 70s stuff, but i can definitely appreciate a newer band that knows how to emulate that sound without seeming like they're trying too hard. two really good examples off the top of my head would be the strokes and arctic monkeys. they've taken elements from early rock and added in nuances of more modern music. they've got that old, rugged, garage-y sound, but they're also fresh and updated and more polished, which i think will allow both bands to be relevant to more people for longer than those hard rockers who carved out their little niches 50 years ago.

PM me sometime. i'd be interested to hear about what you listen to and i could talk forever about music. :)

About the only thing I "search" for here is "favorite music" threads...

Actually I think that's a great idea --- It's annoying when music threads are pages apart, there's a forum for Art, Videos....

Music's a big topic and there are so many (threads that get repeated since others are lost in the (pages in the thousands yet? ).
Every so often someone creates the same or a very similar thread for favorite music... Which is nice but it'd be convenient to have all 459 of them together.... :ermm:

I didn't realize this suggestion was presented before, and this is Gen Dis (too frequently... :disgust: )
where the music is, so it's relevant enough :p
(I forgot about the suggestion forum...)

OK, was going to post a new thread about this album, but saw this thread.

Everyone should check out the new album by a lady called Anais Mitchell. Its called Hadestown, and is sort of like folk/opera, based on the story of Eurydice and Orpheus. http://www.myspace.com/anaismitchell or spotify it if you have that.
It wont be to everyones taste, but i thought it was bloody brill and wanted to share.

P.S. Emily, I love zeppelin, but go through phases with them and hendrix. What did you think of Robert Plant's collaboration with Alison Krauss?
P.P.S. I got my copy of zeppelin 4 signed by Plant whoooooop!!

(cough, cough Gaga...)

Don't you mean cough cough gag gag? lol

What did you think of Robert Plant's collaboration with Alison Krauss?

That's an awesome album...one of my favs!!! I love the harmonies they get going on. I was disappointed that things didn't come together on their last effort at collaboration. I hope they give it another shot soon! They're far too good together to leave it at just the one.
