On one level it's very sad, and on another it's actually kind of inspiring (to me). I'm living/have lived in a situation not as bad, but also not dissimilar, and I don't regret it at all. A lot of what she says is right. People are adaptive. And the camaraderie and "realness" of friendships is right on the money, I understand what she appreciates about it. If she has meth problems (which is what it looks like, although that's completely speculative), that's awful. She seems clearly embarrassed (the interviewer doesn't help matters). But her space down there is bigger than the practice studio I live in so.....it's hardcore, and it's not for everybody, but she's making the best of it, which is all you can do in that situation. Don't think it can't happen to any given one of us; there but for the grace of......(you know the rest....)
