Hello there!
I was wondering what people thought were the sexiest songs ever written/performed. They don’t have to be explicitly sexual, obviously (I mean in terms of lyrical content)… It might just be the feel of the song, the way it sounds… who knows.
Some personal choices:
Wicked Game – Chris Isaak. I guess some people might consider that a bit of a naff choice, but I think it’s pretty sexy. ‘Sultry’ would be the word for it, I reckon. Sounds like Roy Orbison on viagra. lol
I’ve Got a Crush on You – George & Ira Gershwin. Now. I have to be very specific here; there are a lot of versions of this song, many of which I ain’t so keen on! lol I’m referring to the 1946 recording: Sarah Vaughan singing with George Treadwell’s Orchestra. I think she recorded another (strings-based) version of it a decade or so later, which has more of a romantic feel to it; but there’s something kinda raw and sensual about that 1946 version, I think. Particularly in the second half of the song when the tone changes somewhat. And that bit near the end: “Cos I-got a-crush my bay-bee (orgasmic chord change) on no-boh-dee eeeeeeeeeeellllse…” Ha. Love it.
And of course there are songs that are sexy in a more driving, testosterone-fuelled kinda way – Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love springs to mind. Queens of the Stone Age are – or were – pretty good at that kind of song, in my opinion. Misfit Love is a good ‘un. It’s a genre I like to think of as ‘filth-rock’. lol
Anyone?
