Solution to callused feet?

Alright. So this is directed more towards others in the military, but anyone is free to answer. I joined the Air Force in June of last year. Since then, my feet have gotten really callused and I'm not the biggest fan of that. I had really soft feet all over before joining, so there isn't a doubt in my mind that it's these boots. Any help?

Soak'em, use a sandpaper pad (they sell them in the foot/medical section of stores), gently scrub the calloused area, then generously apply a lotion meant for feet (or a thick one like body butter), then slather with petroleum jelly and put thick socks on (2 pairs if necessary, to keep from making a mess). Do this every day. Works like a charm!

Soaking them would just be in water right? Warm water I would assume.
