Travelling to Vegas and LA

Hey gang,

I come from the land down under, and I'm visiting the US as part of an old school boys trip. What's there to do in Nevada and California? Any ideas? I had the stupid idea that I'd walk down the street and recognise Priscilla James or someone, and the trip would go from there, but in the odd chance that doesn't happen was hoping I could get some insider information from all you helpful American folk!

P.S. I already know about casinos and amusement parks.

First off, welcome to the US. Despite what you may see on the news, we are all NOT like George Bush.

As far as stuff to do, I can't be too much help as I'm on the east coast. However, if you should happen to end up in Los Angeles, stay out of Compton. Despite what many rappers would tell you, it is NOT the place to be. Also, crackheads are not good sources for directions.

In Nevada, why not visit the Bunny Ranch. I hear they have a very nice, very friendly staff that will work hard to accomodate you. Just make sure you have money.

i have no idea where you got that garbage about compton, there's only a few small places you shouldn't go to other than that the area is fine.

There's a grip of stuff to do in Vegas, tylerblue did a great job summarizing the things to do there

For L.A. though, the art galleries there are incredibly impressive, if that's not your thing you can hit the amusement parks like Disneyland, 6 Flags Magic Mountain, Knott's Berry Farm, and especially Universal Studios.

Wlecome to the US and to my city, Vegas! As far as Vegas is concerned, take a look at the Strip, take some photos and move on. It's not all what it's cracked up to be in my opinion. Of course, I live here so I have a bias. However, life does exist outside of Vegas and the Strip. I would like to suggest the following:

Red Rock National Park: For $5, you get access to the entire park with amazing scenery and great hiking for all levels of hikers and outdoors people.

Mt. Charelston: I think we might even have some snow up there right now but there are some great lookout spots to view the city from there and you get spectacular views of the awesome desert landscape and sunrises as well.

Just some suggestions for ya. Hope you guys have a great time!!

Whacky, should you guys head up to Red Rock or Mt. Charelston, dress slightly warm. It's getting cold out here in the desert. Well, at least for us it's getting cold!

Bring a good jacket and pants In the Las Vegas area,like the city,I can't see it getting "cold" yet But if you go into the mountains,or other high elevation areas,then I can see it getting cold
