Where were you when the first successful presidential assassination since McKinley happened 48 Novembers ago? If you weren't around when it happened, what's your impression of what went down that day?

I was in grade school, and when the news came through on the school's PA system, I was totally scared shitless. It was only slightly less scary than it would have been if World War III had been declared.

I was in 4th grade. I remember the principal walking into the room with a strange look on his face and whispering something into Mrs. Fairfields ear. She turned white as a sheet and tears began rolling down her face. She told us Kennedy had been shot, there was a short prayer and we were sent home. I was too young to fully grasp what happened in Dealey Plaza that day, but from the reactions of all the adults it was obvious something terrible had occured. I'll never forget seeing that picture of Jackie, still wearing her bloodstained clothes and standing next to LBJ when he took the oath of office on Air Force One.

I was in junior high school, in particular in an art class, when the school's PA system came on with a radio station announcer's voice. It was quite a shock and many students went home in tears that day.
