Some oils dehydrate, and dehydrated skin toughens a bit, so I avoid oils. I stick with lotions that say "moisturize" on the bottle, but if the lotion's too watery, you can create a hydroplane effect, with fingers/tools gliding over the skin and not making much contact. (this could be a plus for those who respond to lighter touches). This is for feet --- now for other areas, such as underarms and ribs, oil can be good because it decreases friction and avoids scratching and discomforting touches. The flesh on underarms and the rest of the torso is generally more delicate than that of the soles. I've heard baby oil is dynamite on the butt cheeks and backs of thighs as well.
