What causes someone to favor a body part?

It has me intrigued that those into tickling are often into feet and I wondered what caused it. My gf and I enjoy tickling each other's feet but it's a means to an end, we tickle elsewhere too.

However while my gf isn't into feet she admits an appreciation for the midriff and enjoys tickling my bellybutton (and so do I!). She finds interest and stimulation in watching my muscles twitch in response. I found I had similar interests as well. But neither she nor I can trace why we enjoy belly tickling. Or why others prefer feet. Any clues?

Sounds to me like you both like tickling what gets results. Fascination with a body part, any body part could be a trained response, or simply what the person likes, for lack of a better term. It may seem odd because one of the culturally popular obsessions but foot focus is no different from say, focus on the chest or rear of a woman, or muscles on a man. It is up to each individual to decide what he or she likes.

Can't say I know for sure, but I can offer a personal anecdote. I think my favorite spot is the belly area because there's so much (smooth and sensitive) skin to play with: ribs, hibs, waist, bellybutton, plus other big areas like underarms and (circumstances permitting) breasts are within easy striking distance. I can't say when or how I developed this preference, but I had it for as long as I can remember.
