What do you play and what kind of music do you enjoy playing ?

I've been playing the guitar for 6 years, the piano for 17 years, and the Drums for about 10 years, and I sing. Once I move the last of my amps and mics out of storage I'm going to make more mp3s, right now I only have one.
I play mostly everything, but my favorites are hard rock, classic rock, and I'll get in the country mood if someone wants to hear it cause it's pretty easy to play.
Right now I"ve been hooked on playing "Lips of an Angel" by Hinder.

I'm recently new to Florida, so if anyone around here plays, let me know.

i have been playing guitar for 18 years now, i started playing in 1988 at the height of the hair band scene. i still enjoy playing the flashy, george lynch type guitar solos, but these days im more of a blues player than anything else........ :cool2:

since i was a music major, i had to learn many instruments..and a few i became quite good with..like the cello, and the piano..i majored in flute..i can also play the violin, viola, trumpet, clarinet, bass, piccolo, harpsichord, and oboe..and some various percussion instruments..

Melanie , if you had all those instruments and your own recording studio ?

well it would be a bit hard, playing all those instruments at once..hehe..o and i can sing..

Melanie , all that talent hidden away just waiting to come out ?

well it came out long ago...i haven't played the cello in years..

I started playing piano in 1968 and guitar in 1974. In the late 80s I was keyboardist for three bands simultaneously. One of the most enjoyable periods of my life.

Now days, I'm blessed to have my old piano back, the one I cut my teeth on. It's a Stieff upright, built in the early 1900s. It rocks! Also, my brother and his pal play guitars and sing at parties. Whenever they have a gig, they ask me to augment them.

I also enjoy writing music, arranging it, and recording it, and doing the mixdown. I use Cakewalk Pro Audio and Cool Edit Pro. I also use a Roland XV-2020 synth module which has about a thousand voices.

I played cello and mandolin, but have not played in many years now.

well, i have played the drums for 7 years, the piano for 1, the alto saxophone for 2, and i'm learning to play the violin. i'm learning to become a music major and hope to learn all the other instruments.

I'm a lefty who mistakenly picked up a right handed guitar when I was 14 years old and never got around to restringing it for a lefty. In other words, I play the guitar upside down and backwards! Guitar wise, I play a lot of Beatles and Dylan and other stuff from the 1960s. I'm no Jimi Hendrix, that's for sure.

I finally got around to buying a left-handed bass guitar, and here it is. A '72 Fender Precision bass:

I've been out of practice, 'bass'ically speaking, but the music I love to play is mostly Classic Rock and Motown. I cite Paul McCartney and James Jamerson as my biggest influences.

I play guitar, piano/keyboard and some percussion. Blues, a little jazz and classic r&b/rock/funk. Hawaiian and Latin I love. Anything easy enough for me to pick up! lol

i play all three types of guitar, but i'm best at acoustic. would like to learn how to play piano but i dont think i'd have the type of left hand right hand co ordination needed to play something good.

I started playing bass guitar back in 1981 when I was 13. After hearing Rush's "Moving Pictures", I just had to learn those bass riffs. Coming from a very musical family, I learned a lot of instruments along the way.

I'm primarily a keyboard player these days. I started that at 16 but always seemed to land in bands that needed a bassist. For the last six years or so I've been on the keys, mixing it up with various other stuff like harmonica, dulcimer and mandolin. I'm also a passable guitarist, but not much of a real lead player. I sang lead in most of my old bands, but prefer to hang back and tickle the ivories these days, singing harmonies and taking the occasional lead.

As far as styles, I've played a lot but prefer progressive rock. The band I'm in now focuses on such music and we play a lot of the great stuff from Yes, Rush, old Genesis, Saga, Dream Theater, Uriah Heep, Kansas, Styx, Journey...shit like that.

Ive been playing bass (electric) for over 30yrs now and still enjoy it alot. I have a fretless bass which is an intruments with the frets taken off the fretboard so the neck is smooth and it produces the sound of an upright acoustic jazz bass...for example you can get those beautiful growl tones on the E and A string like a jazz bassist. I also play piano to some extent for the purpose of songwriting as i write words and music and have done that on a more serious level the last 6 years. My songwriting tends to be very pop oriented and my bass playing very jazz as i like to play semi complex walking lines and try to follow where the harmony is going. I started on guitar at 16 but dont really play that instrument anymore and at one time I was a decent drummer I also sang in the school chrous and played some recorder... but right now I want to hone my skills to the Fretless Bass and songwriting.

hm.. well as my TMF name indicates, i play bass.. thats what i started out playing.. ive been playing bass guitar for 7 years, electric guitar for 6 years, drums for 5 years, and ive been messing around with the piano/keyboard for my entire life.. i wouldnt say i can PLAY it, but i can sit down and make music on it.. i started playing bass in a band, then eventually switched to guitar when my buddies band needed a fill-in guitarist.. then i started playing guitar in a hard rock/alternative band (this was 3 years ago), which then broke up because our singer was a pop kid and was in some boy band, which he dropped us for.. then me and my buddy have our band of right now, which has been together for 3 years.. its just me and him, and we play metal.. www.myspace.com/amf for anyone who wants to hear some

as far as my styles and things of that sort, i dont really have a style, i play it all.. obviously with guitar i enjoy playing heavy metal.. metal in all its varieties.. but i also enjoy jazz, blues, classical.. i love finding new innovations and ways to play.. on bass, i got most inspiration from flea.. i love playing funky on the bass, as well as jazzy.. jazz bass is the allmighty.. also took influence from the greats such as jaco pastorius, stu hamm, victor wooten.. the innovators.. i dont really have a style for that either i guess.. thats a hard question..

I agree Jaco was the man he was a bass innovator to the max, Stu Hamm and Victor Wooden are excellent deciples of Jacos as well as Michael Mannring who is an excellent bassist with his alternate tunings and tapping style.

I've played piano for 16 years and cello for 6. I used to play the violin in middle school, then switched to cello. For my string and woodwind tech classes, I'm learning the viola, clarinet, sax, and flute. Yay music majors :)

I play guitar and bass. Guitar is my main instrument and i've been playing it since i was 13 (I'm 18 now) so that's almost 6 years. It didn't take me long to get the fundamentals of bass down after learning guitar, lol. I mainly play melodic metal.

I play piano and viola 'well,' along with having a bit of an understanding of various folk instruments (bagpipes, concertina, etc.).

Classical musician for the most part, though I've been trying to get into some jazz improv and such.

I've been playing the guitar for a little over 3 years now. I'm not particularly serious about it. I don't have dreams of being a rock star or playing in coffee shops. It's really just a hobby and it can get rid of some stress.

I really like playing Flogging Molly songs on it though... :)
