For some reason I was thinking about how much times have changed today. Especially in terms of toys of today vs toys from back in the day. I for instance I was a fan of the "big wheel" :) which possibly may still be in existance I just haven't seen any lol, Lets not forget Atari either lol.

But it seems that now most kids are into like fashion dolls or video games such as xbox and playstation lol, I was just curious to know if you ever had a favorite toy, that if you had it today would be truly nostalgic for you.

Talk about a thread made for me! OK, here goes....

When I was a wee lad all of 4 years old, the Shogun Warriors! 24 inches of mighty robot power! And Godzilla too.

When I got a little older by a couple years, Luke Skywalker in his Hoth gear was my favorite action figure. I have NO idea why! Heck, I even let him beat Boba Fett!

When DC Comics released their SuperPowers line and Marvel released their Secret Wars line, I got them all. Big surprise there, right? Anyway, Batman in his pimped out Batmobile and Iron Man were my two favorites!

But, 1984 was the year that changed my life! That is the year the Transformers came out. I latched onto them and never looked back! My favorite of the whole damn bunch? The smartass, wisecracking Autobot Bluestreak. I was the only one of my friends to have him and I still got him (in damn fine condition to boot). I recently looked it up and collectors are paying around $300.00 for him! I will never part with Bluestreak though.

Transformers are the best toys ever!

Darth Vader

(apparently, I would not let this toy out of my site when I was 5)

Anything Dukes of Hazzard. I was obsessed with this show as a small child. Hell, Me and all of my cousins were.

Finally, my father gave me a huge chalkboard when I was like...4. I LOVED to draw so I loved that thing. I kept it in my room for at least 10 years or so.

Puppies in my Pocket (I was obsessed with those), various action figures, a Gameboy, and lots of coloring books. :D

Star Wars toys. I inherited my brother's vast collection, including his 'mutants'. he would buy duplicates of luke skywalker etc. melt their faces a little with a flame then stir the face around a bit with the other end of the matchstick. The result looked like that old twilight zone episode with he ugly people. I'd use them as burn victims from imperial attacks. I liked the bad guys.

A remote control 4X4 truck. I used it all the time. My favorite GI Joe's rode in it and over the Cobra Vehicles.

Rob

Play-dough

Anything which could be used to construct a fort.

Go-bots! (MUCH better than Transformers.)

Clothes in the dress-up chest (my mum's old hippy clothes and a few of my granny's old sari's)

Items found outside such as sticks and mud.

Up to about age 6, my favorite toy was a set of wooden building blocks, difference colors and different shapes. I would play with them for hours, building structures and then knocking them down.

LOL these are all great toys OMG I remember just about all of them. Wow has time changed lol. It's great when you can reflect on the most happinest parts of your childhood, especially if it included a toy that you simply adored.

Actually, come to think of it, describing my absolute favorite toys make me sound really old. In the UK when I was a kid you could get shops that sold little farm animals, etc. And along with those they sold superbly-detailed toy soldiers. Not the shitty green plastic GI's you get in plastic bags in supermarkets, but painted Napoleonic soldiers on horses or on foot with fixed bayonets on rifles, mostly plastic with die cast metal, on heavy metal rectangular bases painted green. My uncle is an artist who makes reproduction antique furniture and made me a fort that I could use to play with them. I played with star wars figures mostly, but they weren't as magic to me as my toy soldier collection.

My most prized childhood toy. The rare GI Joe: Destro

I remember him being so rare that you had to order him because he wasn't available in stores.

I had this stuffed animal from the time I was in the second grade. My parents bought it for me at the beach. His name was Timber and I L-O-V-E-D him, took him everywhere, he got FILTHY...still love him <3

my banana seat bike, jacks, toy cash register and blank forms to fill out (yes i'm a geek and actually have a lot of accounting experience :p) and a spinning top.
