Yes I'll chip in please with a couple of votes for Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman).

Willow in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I liked a lot about her character, underlying vulnerability mixed with steely determination, girl next door mixed with tomboy - or at least that's how I remember thinking of her at the time.

Additionally, but not strictly relevant as it's not TV, I'd love to tickle Isserly (some sort of human/animal figure) in the Michael Faber fantasy novel 'Under the Skin' (portrayed by Scarlett Johansson in the film 'version')

I actually did think of Rey and Princess Leia. I just didn't mention them because the OP was specifically looking for TV characters and not so much movies.
