Woman Injured in Power Tool Sex Toy Encounter

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. -- Some sexual experimentation landed a southern Maryland woman in a hospital with injuries tough to imagine and even more difficult to forget.

Maryland State Police airlifted the 27-year-old woman to Prince George's County Hospital Center early Sunday morning after she was injured in an incident involving a sex toy attached to a saber saw blade, TheBayNet.com first reported.

The man who called 911 about the incident admitted attaching the sex toy to the saw and then using the high-powered, homemade device on his partner, according to the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office.

The saw cut through the plastic toy and wounded the woman, according to TheBayNet.com. The injuries were severe enough for medevac, but the woman was released from the hospital Monday and is recovering from her unusual injuries.

Investigators talked to the woman, who told them she suffered the injuries during a consensual act and that she and her partner were trying something new and no crime was committed, the sheriff's office said​

Hah. At this other forum on which I used to participate, I got into some disagreements with a few people over certain extreme BDSM practices of which I expressed disapproval. I was told numerous times that nobody had any right to say anything about "what two consenting adults do behind closed doors." While I agree that's true most of the time, I think this case as well as some others clearly validate some glaring exceptions to that rule.

Consent is a key element, but Safety and Sanity are just as crucial.

We, as practitioners, can preach all we want about safety, sanity and consentuality and even risk-aware practices...but it doesn't mean people are gonna listen.

LOL. Okay, just for the record, I know this incident had nothing to do with BDSM. I'm not bashing BDSM nor am I on a "righteous crusade" against it. I have many friends that play safely and sanely as well as consentually.

It's been my experience that those who defend some of the more extreme (read "dangerous") aspects of pain play do so by a) launching counter allegations of moral judgementalism, and b) insisting that nobody has any right to cast aspersions on any activity that two consenting adults do behind closed doors.

I've seen people vehemently denounce any expression of opinions based on one's personal code of morals and values. And yet these same people are often the first to express moral outrage over a guy giving a brief foot tickle to a stranger at a water park, or becoming a pedicurist so that he can be close to feet all day; because that's just "wrong."

I posted this true story not only as a point of interest, but to demonstrate that maybe SOMETIMES it's okay to question the sanity of what people do, even when it's done consentually behind closed doors. That maybe...just maybe consent itself is NOT the be-all end-all stamp of approval for any behavior under the sun.

Just for the record, I only brought up the BDSM angle as a blanket example. I really didn't personally take anything negative towards the lifestyle out of the post itself.
