Wow, The Agencies #18!

The tickling community's longest running comic series and longest running storyline continues. Javier and Patricia are back at it, supplying amazing artwork and vision to our venerable flagship comic series. This issue caps off a summer of Agency Publishing customer experience improvement initiatives, including discounts on purchases, acceptance of Paypal, the release of 10 free pinups of our older issues, and a story/trivia contest.

The Agencies #18 is slightly longer than our standard fare, with this one clocking in at 14 pages. There is a flashback sequence in this issue that is pretty neat: it dates back to a time when Agent Succubus was still alive and Karma was still a student at the Academy.

Will Tiffany still evade her tormentors?

In celebration of 10 years of The Agencies, Agency Publishing LLC is now giving its customers discounts on larger orders! All you need to do is order at least $25 of our comics and the discounts will be automatically applied as you check out. These discounts can be as much as 25% off your entire order!

And we're now accepting Paypal on all orders. Good stuff.

The attached cover for The Agencies #18 shows Agent Angelica captured by Karma and her sister The Tickler. They are after Agent Starlight's little sister Tiffany, and will stop at nothing to get the redhead in their clutches. In The Agencies #17 we saw Agent Anglica (who is Tiffany's protector) take on both Karma and The Tickler by blinding them and causing their vehicle to crash. But The Tickler, who is able to use her power of vibration as a sort of sonar, could still sense Agent Angelica and rendered the Agent unconscious through her vibration/tickling powers.

Things go from bad to worse for our beleaguered Agents. They lost one of their own in the line of duty (Agent Succubus, The Agencies #13). Karma's forces now assault the city from all angles, forcing them on the defensive, and Miss Rachel Ghost is still in Karma's notorious dungeons (The Agencies #10). Will Tiffany escape her tormentors? Will Agent Angelica protect Tiffany's location? Stay tuned...

In summary, this issue has:

  • 14 interior color pages
  • Includes a cover and an amazing group pinup that has to be seen to be believed (a four-word phrase hint: Team Twister in lingerie)
  • Issue offered in hyperlinked PDF format

Here is a sample of the storyboard, pencils, and inks for a scene in which Agent Deadline is getting limber.

This is part of the flashback sequence in which Karma is still a student at the Academy. At this point in the story she is still being considered for a role as Agent. We see some of her power explained here, and some of the breaks of philosophy she has with The Agency.

Woah, these panels really pack a lot of depth! Thanks for giving us a sneak peek. =)

Not a problem, good sir!

Karma is a fun character. I like presenting villains as total monsters, then slowly peel back the foggy layers of their experiences to explain how we came to the point in the story where you first met them (and they were crazy!).

Karma is no different. She was once a reasonable, bright, empathetic young women at the Academy, shown in the above panels. She was even Agent Starlight's best friend. Then things change, they start to go sour. Not all of her back story is explained in this issue, but there are more pieces of the puzzle added.

Karma has been ravaging the city of Seattle and The Agency in various attacks lately in the series. Curious if this mistress of destruction is ticklish? The Agencies #18 has answers.

Here is page 01 of our newest release The Agencies #18.

This page shows the beginning of a flashback. The flashbacks takes place 4 years before the main storyline. Agent Succubus is still alive here, and is finishing up her final exam along with her friend Anglica. They are shown on this page taking part of an infiltration exercise that doesn't exactly go to plan. Angelica can manipulate light, and uses that to turn herself invisible...except that guard dogs still have a great sense of smell and she's found out.

Review of this issue

Everyone enjoys good origin stories. They help us understand a character’s motivations and put their actions into context. They can also show us previously unknown connections between established characters. All of these things and more are true of the latest issue of The Agencies, which delves into us some of the events leading to Karma’s break from the Agency. A couple of agents we’ve not seen in a while also make appearances in these flashback sequences, showing some of their early days at the Agency.

Of course, there’s plenty of tickling to be had, as well. The Tickler (once known as the agent Mirth) uses her extraordinary powers on Agent Angelica, creating some (pardon the pun) “fireworks.” Fans of foot-tickling, especially involving nylon stockings, will be especially pleased with this issue.

Once again, the art team delivers a stunning display of talent on this issue. Oblesklk also provides some backstory for one of the series’ main characters (I hesitate to use the term “villain”) and advances the storyline’s current events, as well. Another tour de force of Agencies action!

Thanks :)

This issue and the next one will have heavier nylon-clad foot tickling content, which is cool. We feature that from time to time and readers really seem to like it. The flashback sequence was fun to write, and we will most likely go with that in the future as well. As interesting as the current storyline is, there is a lot of room for backstories as well. There are a lot of adventures the girls went on right before/after they became Agents (Issues 3 & 4 cover this a little bit), as well as a lot of interpersonal relationship stories that beg to be told (fallout between Agent Starlight and Karma, Agent Deadline's flirtatious relationship with Kedrick, Yin/Yang's twisted adventures in sadism, Succubus's many adventures in winning the hearts of men). But all in good time. We've completed 18 issues, and we'll keep working on them as long as you good folks feel like supporting them!

Can't wait for the next one! Love it when you include nylon tickling in your products!

We can't wait either, it will enter production officially on Monday. Glad you like nylon tickling :lol The next issue will feature quite a bit, as well from a different character.

Who would you like to see nylon foot tickled the most?

Trick question! All of them! Ok, maybe Tiffany the most!

You guys did a great job with this issue ! That Ruthless reference(again) was great , and I just can't wait for y'all to transition to the shared universe paradigm . In fact , although I might sound a bit too optimistic here , bu I foresee alternate universe stories being developed by Oby and his staff in the near future .

Also , a question to Ob : have any of your artists worked for the more mainstream comic book publishing establishments like Marvel, DC, Image etc ? Just asking .

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it :)

You will be pleased to see the transition over to the shared universe paradigm, as you mention. It's something I've been planning for years and years and have been planting easter eggs for in the various comic lines for a LONG time. And now it's time to start seeing that subtlety blossom into full story arcs. It will be a lot of fun.

Alternate universe stories? I'm being dense here, and not quite following :)

Yes, many of our artists and studios have done work for the big mainstream studios. We just had a major recruiting drive in the last two months, and we're finding with our current portfolio we're starting to get on people's radar now as a legit indie publisher, even though we're just a little tickle torture fetish outfit. But it certainly makes recruiting top talent easier when you start to get a rep.
