Today, 12-23-23 was probably my best day of 2023.
I visited my Dad and his wife at their apartment.
We talked in my Dad's den. Out of nowhere, my Dad , who has not given me a holiday gift since I was in college, says. "Happy Holidays" and hands me a very generous and unexpected check.
We were going to go to a very nice Chinese Eatery for lunch, and we did, and shared two wonderful dishes.
My Dad's spine Dr and his wife walked in, we talked, and then they went to sit down.
When I went to get the check to pay the bill, the waiter told us "That couple" meaning my Dad's spine Dr and his wife paid your check"
We were in an Uber, which my Dad wanted to take me home. I said "Dad, not needed, please just have the car take me downtown so I can take one subway home instead of two" which we agreed to.
When I got home, I got the best wonderful news of the day.
My friend Adam, who as I've mentioned has been hospitalized on and off since Thanksgiving with heart issues, was released from the hospital today, and is staying with his parents for a bit, to make sure he is okay.
God, Thank You for this wonderful day, 12-23, 23.
In what has been a very difficult year for my Dad and I, with our health, and my losing my second mother, my Aunt, my Dad and I needed a day like this, badly!
