America was founded upon prudency, and only now, some couple of hundred years later, are we even remotely breaking away from that. I don't find it surprising that so many things are censored.
At any rate, what I watched was uncensored, and I completely agree that it makes a massive amount of difference; I think one of Vegeta's deaths was extremely violent, and I believe Tien's arm was ripped off early on in the saga? Stuff like that is just... yea.
The sites I checked out occasionally accidentally linked to one of the HD versions, and it ended up being about 20 or so episodes behind the series I watched, so I'm curious as to what they could have possibly done to have extended it so much. Blagh, now I'm curious.
