I don't think they are dumbing down the game. They are providing options for various levels of players. The optional hard modes are a great idea - best of both worlds really. The challenges are there if you seek them out. There are plenty of fights in which one mistake spells a wipe.

For me the bondage actually provides a sense of security. I don't like feeling helpless that much so I guess it is a bit of a paradox. What I hate more than feeling helpless though is being not in control of my body. So being tied up helps alleviate that.
