It's the fire. Don't you know about the fire?
As much as I love heat, it's a tricky thing to use. The easiest type of heat to get is fire. First choice there is an open flame which is large and broad, making it impossible to control precisely. You can deliver lots of slow heat to a large area, but you can't concentrate on a spot. The other option is that it's a small flame such as a match or lighter. Those are precise and easy to work with, but it's easy to leave a serious burn.
I've used a hairdryer, which is nice and directional and quite warm, but like an open flame it's not exactly intense and precise. To get truly precise, there are tools like soldering pens and heat-operated foam carving tools or whatever they're called. Like... heat knives. I dunno.
A soldering pen, like a small flame, would be very easy to burn with. Not something that you really want to do! Causing a little blister can be thrilling to the victim. Leaving a burned sore can kill the mood quickly with a trip to the hospital.
Just wondering if anybody has any experience, either for real or from seeing videos, with using heat. If you'e got thoughts, ideas, whatever... share them please!
