Bay Area's mild babe, sometimes cold even in summertime but up here is sizzling~a month or more of 100+ is nothing for us. Me, I hate it. 360 days of nothing but straight sunshine, all the time. Only people who don't live here (and wackos) are jealous. 😀

for me its like this. When i'm tickled my instinct is to make it stop.. Not saying i'm the hulk or anything but i don't find it hard to stop it as i'm stronger than anyone i want tickling me so i it's kinda necessary to restrain me, i find it frustrating when i cant get tickled long enuf to really feel it cause i stop it straight away, i don't really like having the choice to make it stop

Like everyone else has said, its a combination of things.

I for one do not want to be kicked / elbowed / generally have my ass kicked when tickling someone, nor do I want to do anything of those things to someone else. Therefore, being tied up is helpful in that sense.

While my body's natural instincts are to cover up and escape, my mind wants to prevent it. Therefore, bondage inhibits my body from moving, thereby allowing my mind to bask in all the tickly goodness.

As a ler, I want to concentrate on the tickling, not the fighting the 'lee as they're trying to escape.

Plus, being bound makes me more ticklish, and I think it does the same to others.

I like both restrained and unrestrained tickles. However, the reason why I like restrained tickling (only with a trustworthy partner of course) is that it allows the 'ler access to places I would otherwise be apt to involuntarily cover up. I want them to find those places, and to explore thoroughly and slowly, so I appreciate a mechanism which allows me to relax and indulge in the sensation completely. I don't have to focus on being still or holding my arms up, and I don't have to worry about being hurt in a struggle (I am quite petite so this can happen if my partner doesn't know their own strength!).

For me there is a difference between playful tickling and a tickle torture session. If it's just playing around, no bondage is necessary. I can keep it together for that. However, if we're going to get serious, you had better tied me down and do it well cause I'm a thrasher...can't help it. Also, although my body wants it to stop (i.e., involuntary covering up, moving out of the way, etc.) I really don't want it to. So the bondage allows me to submit to the tickling, just lie there and take it for as long as the ler can give it to me in ticklish bliss/torture.

Well, as most of you know, I hate being tickled and can't stand it! But I love to hate it. 🙂 It's a control thing for me, too. I love that someone can just do something to me, even though I don't want it. In a very twisted way, I guess I do want it. So it really just depends on the situation as to which I prefer. 🙂

Well, it definitely makes it more exciting for me because, no matter how hard I try, I am simply not able to "let" someone tickle me unrestrained: I want to be still and enjoy the tickling, but my body wants otherwise and I can't keep from moving away from the tickling, so, bondage helps me out with that. And of coarse I love the helpless feeling... As for the injury thing, that's surprisingly never been a real problem for me, and certainly never the reason I wanted to be tied. A lot of people can relate to the "love to hate it" feeling that you describe.
And you are right also about the control issue.
I find myself more ticklish if i'm in a situation where I can't get out of. And considering how ticklish I am to start with it makes for a mind blowing experience.

This. I want to let go and not worry about flailing around.
However, sometimes I am more ticklish when I do worry about it and try to hold still -- maybe because it forces me to pay more attention to the sensation.
