Some of my favorites are Cowboy bebop, FLCL, Kenshin, Gundam Wing, Trigun, The Slayers, and the Irresponsible Captain Tylor. I would definatley suggest the movies Samuri X, Princess Mononoke, Green Legend Ran, and Vampire Hunter D.

Two more I recently saw: Last Exile and RahXephon. Both were superb.


And Roshi, THANK YOU for mentioning Green Legend Ran. It saddens me sometimes how such an awesome anime (Movie, not series) can fall under the radar.

Cowboy Bebop is definitely up there on my list, as well as FLCL. Though, if you don't like violence and extremely odd humor you may not like them. Sailor Moon, if you'd prefer something a little more girly-girl. Vampire Hunter D-Blood Lust is good or Hellsing if you like a vampire in your anime. *giggle* There are so many good one! Trigun is another one that is just GREAT! Great characters, great story, and I love the music too--which is part of what make both Bebop and FLCL so fabulous, their music is so YUMMY!

and if you can get a hold of it One piece (action/comidy/drama/weird in a lot of ways) plus to add to that last one, it's got a DBZ plot that lasts and lasts and lasts. Also you might want to wait on it cuz the Subs for it right now suck to hell, wait till it comes out in English.

this new Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex has me rushing to get the original movie for Christmas.

it's kinda hard to explain to my family what it is i want. My mom thinks Anime means it's Animated. She is dumb founded why they call it anime and not good ol fashioned cartoons, even after i explain it a bunch of times.

Duel Masters!
Early in the morning kiddie show. Card game show, you know the type. Its hilarious though. Always making fun of itself. I love it 😀

I'm old school, so I used to watch and like only the fairly old.
That's why I'm not so crazy about most newer animes.

Oldies but goodies are:
Grendizer.
Mazinger.
Jeeg.
[Basically all Go Nagai's older robots.]

MS Gundam 0079.
[Later series never showed up where I live. Copyright issues.]

Lupin 3rd also holds a significance to me, but I don't like the anime in itself.

Oh man you guys are asking so much from me for posting in this thread. I'm so afraid to mention one anime and forget another, to have it shun me for a week and gossip behind my back (little bastards).

Ranma 1/2: The show is okay but the book is HILARIOUS. I never laugh so hard, as when I am reading those books....One of my all time favorites.

Cowboy Bebop: I would have thought my icon said enough...but there is nothing quite like a well made show that seems adult in nature, that would even have non anime fans saying wow.

FLCL: This one seemed to be rather controversial, go ahead and try and look up discussion groups on this. Some people find it incredibly deep and philosophical, others...well...they think it's stupid. Me? It was just crazy funny, I loved it.

Club 9: I don't know if I'd call it anime, it doesn't have the typical style, and it's also the company that sells it is darkhorse. But man oh MAN it's hilarious. A great read, I highly recommend it! 🙂

Chobits: Also a great read, I liked the art, and hadn't seen any concepts made quite so well as the way this one is portrayed.

Princess Mononoke: Sweet ass! Made me mad the forest didn't officially win though and wipe out all those asshats...

Sailor Moon: Aside from Speed racer, this is what originally hooked me on anime, when I didn't even know what anime was! It all went from there....Oh man, and I love their relationship and the true love *tear* Life needs commitment like that. (ex: Check wanda sykes routine about commitment.)

Akira: I want that arm thing....just not the repercussions that go with it...


Ronin Warriors: I put it here just to express how much I hated it. I CANNOT STAND HIS CATIPILLARS THAT PLANTED THEMSELVES ON THOSE GUYS FACES RIGHT ABOVE THEIR EYES! WHOSE EYE BROWS ARE THAT BIG AND LONG AND SPLIT LIKE THAT AT THE END! *huff huff*

Basically all of the contents of Shonen Jump is great to read (Dragon Ball Z, Hikari No Go, One Piece, Shaman King, Naruto, Yu Gi Oh!, etc).

You should see the live action GTO. 'Tis good.

Vampire Hunter D, I add to my list, both Bloodlust and the original. Dark, plenty of action, and vampires. What more do you need?

If you are weird, crazy, or otherwise insane, Super Milk Chan is for you. It has no real plot, no real goal other than to be totally off the wall. Do not watch if you don't like strange material.
